DCNR Riparian Forest Buffer Grant Awarded

The Allegheny Watershed Alliance (AWA), in partnership with the Allegheny County Conservation District and Tree Pittsburgh, has been awarded $90,000 grant as a part of the DCNR Riparian Forest Buffer Grant Program. The purpose of this program is to help the Commonwealth of PA to meet the goal of planting 25,000 acres of streamside trees by 2025.

Streambank Revival on Turtle Creek

The Turtle Creek Watershed Association and the Municipality of Monroeville completed a streamside buffer restoration on Turtle Creek with the help of Tree Pittsburgh. Volunteers gathered on a crisp fall day to plant native shrubs and trees on an unstable streambank to help improve water quality, habitat for fish, and conditions downstream.
